The Philip Batch Furniture story began in 1868 when James Batch and his two sons, Edward & William, arrived in Australia and began manufacturing furniture in Drummond Street, Ballarat. Today, Philip Batch brings you the highest quality pieces from Moran Furniture.

Crafted in Ballarat – A Timeline

1868

James Batch and his two sons, Edward and William arrive in Australia and head to Ballarat. James begins manufacturing furniture in Drummond Street, Ballarat.

1919

William Batch and his son Oliver move the Business to Armstrong Street, Ballarat.

1925

Oliver Batch extends the factory into the building next door and the business becomes known as O F Batch Furniture.

1935

A brick façade is erected and the business becomes Batch’s Furniture Factory.

1954

Jeffrey Batch assumes the running of the factory after his father Oliver retires.

1958

The business becomes Batch’s Home Furnishers.

1972

Philip Batch starts at the business.

1990

Philip starts his own furniture repair and restoration business Philip J Batch Craftsman, which he continues to run today, as a hobby business.
